Incoming Students Uniform Ordering Instructions 2023-2024

Dowling Catholic students are required to wear the designated dress code bottoms and uniform tops. All uniform tops – polos, long-sleeved polos, fleece, and v-neck sweaters - are purchased through the Dowling Catholic Campus Store. A description of the dress code and uniform is printed on the back of this form. Refer to the Student Handbook for the most up to date uniform guidelines and dress code.

INCOMING STUDENTS - uniform orders will be accepted April 1 – May 15, 2023, through the Campus Store website.  Orders cannot be placed before April 1 or after May 15; please add these dates to your calendar now. All uniforms ordered before the deadline will be available for pickup beginning August 14, 2023.  You may choose to have your order shipped to your home over the summer for an additional charge.  Select Shipping instead of Store Pickup during check out.

For your convenience, appointments for uniform try on will be offered beginning March 1, 2023, through May 15, 2023.  Uniform try-ons happen by appointment only – no walk- ins accepted.  Please look over the measurements online BEFORE making an appointment; slots fill up fast and not everyone will get an appointment.

Samples will be available for try-on over top of another shirt; the shirts fit true to size but if in question, we recommend bringing your student or a polo that fits your student to your scheduled appointment.

Guidelines for Placing Uniform Orders:

No orders can be accepted before April 1, 2023

No orders can be accepted after May 15, 2023

Uniforms cannot be ordered in-store.

Uniform items cannot be returned; no exceptions

 

Uniform Special Order Items:

Several uniform items are NOT stocked by the store and must be ordered. These include short and long-sleeved performance polos, some* long-sleeved cotton polos, fleece jackets, v-neck sweaters, tall sizes and youth sizes.

The items mentioned above are available for order April 1 – May 15, 2023, AND again beginning August 14, 2023. Items ordered 8/14 – 8/30 will arrive approximately 10/15/2023.

If you want your student to have long-sleeved shirts and crew neck sweatshirts before October, order them now.

During the school year, uniform orders are collected and then submitted on the 1^st of each month. Delivery of these orders to the store takes 5-7 weeks after the bulk order is placed.

If you do not order uniforms now, we cannot guarantee the store will have uniforms in stock for purchase in August.  Those who do not order now will be limited to purchasing two uniform polo shirts and one uniform sweatshirt from the Campus Store prior to the start of the school year, while supplies last.  Ordering uniforms now is highly recommended.  The Campus Store is closed over the summer and will reopen on the first day of classes in August 2023.

*The Campus Store carries cotton long sleeved polo shirts in black and maroon, sizes small through x large.  These sell out fast; ordering is highly recommended.

DRESS CODE OVERVIEW

Dress Code Pants: Not available at the Dowling Catholic Campus Store
Students are required to wear Black, Khaki, Gray or Navy ankle length cotton twill Docker-style pants.
No skirts
Students MAY NOT wear joggers, cargo, jean, hip-hugger, or painter pants. No sagging pants.
ABSOLUTELY NO YOGA PANTS or LEGGINGS. Pants must have belt loops, pockets, and a zipper.

Dress Code Shoes: Students can wear either tennis shoes or dress shoes. Shoes are to be clean, neat and well kept.
Boys must wear socks. Shoes must have a back. No Crocs, flip-flops, boots, or slippers unless permission has been granted from the Dean’s office. No heels over 2 inches or open-toed shoes may be worn. NO OTHER FOOTWEAR IS ACCEPTABLE.

MISCELLANEOUS

PE Uniforms: have been discontinued. Students should wear clothing appropriate to the activity or sport.
Non-school related buttons or stickers may not be worn during the school day.
No hats, scarves, gloves, bandanas or head coverings.
Coats, jackets, sweatshirts, or other apparel designed for outdoor wear cannot be worn during the school day.
No body piercing allowed, but girls can have their ears pierced. Boys are not allowed to wear earrings.
All hairstyles must have a conventional color/cut. Boys are to be clean-shaven with hair off the collar, above the eyebrow, and no sideburns below the ear and nothing can be worn to tie up or cover hair in any way.

Students should be in their uniform from the time school starts to the time school is dismissed.

DRESS CODE MODIFICATIONS:  THE ADMINISTRATION RESERVES THE RIGHT TO MAKE MODIFICATIONS TO THE DRESS CODE AFTER PROVIDING COMMUNICATION OF THOSE MODIFICATIONS AT ANY TIME THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL YEAR.
